Our objective when creating Paid Search ads is to stand out on the Search Engine Results Page, one of the ways that we can do that is to use Ad Extensions.

One of the ones that can have one of the biggest impacts is Google Seller Ratings. We’ve seen CTR’s improve by 10-%-15% for ads that have Seller Ratings attached.

These extensions are different from the usual extensions for a couple of reasons:

  1. They are not exclusive to Paid Search. They can show up on organic listings as well.

  2. They are an automated extension. Which means that you can not go into the Google Ads platform and push them live manually.

Instead, what we can do is make sure that our accounts are set up in a way which will allow Google to automatically pull through Seller Ratings into our Ads.

So, in this article, we are going to go through the requirements of getting Seller Ratings into your ads.

What do they look like:

The first thing that we need to explore is where these Seller Ratings come from:

Since you can not link Google directly to any review site, you are going to have to rely on making sure that your client is collecting reviews from one of the independent review websites, or directly through Google Customer Reviews.

Google might also use Google Consumer Surveys and Shopping Reviews for your store domain.

Google is looking at a lot of sources for review information because they want to give the searcher the best quality information available.

Another thing to know is when they are going to show up:

Seller Ratings will show up with your Search Ads, but there are a few requirements that have to meet before they will be eligible to be shown.

To make sure that your Client is still an active business they must:

  • Have at least 100 unique reviews for the market within the last 12 months (from Google Customer Reviews or from one of the 3rd party platforms mentioned above).

  • You need to make sure that your client has a 3.5 or higher ratings (out of 5) for Seller Ratings to appear.

  • The viable URL domain must match the domain for which you have collected the ratings.

If you are curious if your client has Seller Ratings, you can go to this URL and check:

https://www.google.com/shopping/ratings/account/lookup?q={yourwebsite}

replace {yourwebsite} with your client's website to check.

If Seller Ratings are being picked up by Google you will see something like this:

As a default, Google with automatically opt-in accounts into receiving Seller Ratings if they are eligible to show. If for whatever reason you wanted to turn them off in your account you can do so:

First, in the Automated Extensions section, on the far right-hand side, select the 3 dots + more and select Advanced Options
